Can you use a WordPress Blog for Internet Marketing?

One of the most common questions all internet marketing newbies ask is, “can I use something like a WordPress blog?”. Luckily, there’s an extremely easy answer to this question.

In one word: Yes.

In more than one word…

There are absolutely no problems associated with using a WordPress Blog for Internet Marketing purposes. In fact, the majority of marketers are probably running a blog-based CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Wix, or Squarespace.

.com vs .org

Since we’re specifically talking about WordPress, it should be mentioned that there are technically 2 variants of it.

There’s the standalone version that can be installed in any hosting environment, and then there’s the WordPress.com version that’s more of a lite variant meant for personal blogs.

So, If you’re serious about Internet Marketing, then you’ll want to use the standalone version. The WordPress.com variant only allows you to build websites using sub-domains which isn’t ideal.

Out of all the possible CMS options we have access to, WordPress is by far the most popular.

Some of the biggest websites out there run on WordPress, believe it or not. wpbeginner put together a list of 40+ most notable brands that run WordPress. On that list you’ll find names like Sony, TechCrunch, BBC America, Mercedes-Benz, and more. Even Sweden’s official website runs on WordPress!

So, feel free to use a WordPress installation to power your next website knowing that some of the biggest brands, and even some countries, are also using it.

With that in mind, there’s nothing holding a WordPress blog back from being a successful (and lucrative) website. This has been attested to time and time again by some of the biggest names in the marketing industry, like Neil Patel who’s top recommendation is WordPress.
