First, let’s look at why keywords and proper research are important; a keyword search tool is sometimes also referred to as performing keyword research. It should be common knowledge that keywords are going to be the driving force behind the traffic that comes to your website – so it only makes sense to perform in-depth keyword research.
Performing proper keyword research using an effective keyword search tool is not only recommended, but it’s basically required if you want to succeed.
So… What is a Keyword Search Tool?
Basically put, a keyword search tool is a program or system which is capable of delivering lists of keywords and their search metrics in an organized and efficient manner. Using these tools are an integral part of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
There is a plethora of keyword research tools out there, but there are really only 2 worth checking out, in my opinion.
The first being Google’s own keyword planning tool. This can be found by creating a free Google AdWords account here, and then navigating into the tools section for the keyword planner.
The second is a program called Jaaxy; it’s honestly a little better than Google’s keyword planner as it’s a little easier to work and a little more organized. The downside to Jaaxy is that it costs $19/month – although it’s worth it, it’s still an extra cost. They do however offer some training around how to read the different metrics, which is great for beginners. Check out my review of Jaaxy here.
Being able to leverage keyword search tools is going to be one of your most invaluable skills when it comes to ranking anything in search engines, whether you’re optimizing YouTube videos or blog posts – you absolutely need to be able to target them towards high-quality keywords.
Not targeting your content towards high-quality keywords is honestly going to turn out to be a big waste of your time as you will probably be missing 90% of your possible traffic due to lack of optimization.
Keyword Research Training
There are numerous forums and websites devoted to teaching the basics of SEO and keyword research, but a lot of these places are going to host a lot of outdated and irrelevant information – it’s almost impossible to tell what’s what without having some kind of insight into how Google’s current algorithm is working.
Although Jaaxy has a plethora of keyword training, there are still some tricks you’re only going to learn by playing around with different strategies.
If I had to recommend one place to learn both the basic tricks, and advanced tactics of SEO, I would highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate.
I hope this post has cleared the air about what a keyword search tool is, and what it is(or should be) used for.
