How did I find Wealthy Affiliate?
When I first came across Wealthy Affiliate I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, but aimlessly browsing through random articles.. When one eventually came up that said something about free and building websites so I had to take a look, at least for a laugh – nothing is ever free.
Within the first few sentences my interest had already been piqued as I’ve always been interested in making money online, but never really found any success outside of freelancing and a few $ via affiliate marketing sites… but this one sounded promising. Even if it was just a free trial.. and not entirely free…
What Is Wealthy Affiliate About?
Before we jump into what they’re about, I want to give you a couple of stats..
If 70% of 2.4 billion people use the internet daily, that’s 1.68 billion people or so.
If 56% of 1.68 billion people use it for daily shopping, that’s 940 million people!
This all amounts to 3.2 billion searches being made, per day!
Out of 940 million people, you can guarantee that some of them have mutual interests with yourself, and that is the basis of Internet Marketing – what Wealthy Affiliate teaches you to do in the most cost-effective way possible.
You take something you really enjoy doing and know a lot about, narrow that down into specific targeted-niches, pick the most marketable one, build a website around that idea, and well..
Wealthy Affiliate is all about giving people like yourself a healthy community environment to dive into Affiliate Marketing with. Learning is always easier when you have a like-minded group to discuss ideas with and get help from.
This was something I only learned about 6 months after initially joining WA, but hopefully it will be something that you can take advantage of right away!
Basically, they’re about teaching people like yourself the exact steps required to harness your slice of that 940 million shopper pie, while actually helping people along the way.
WA has been around for a decade (since 2005), which is super-rare in their industry. In fact, if you can find any reputable program who has survived for a decade, I would love to know about it in the comments section.
Most comparable programs don’t last more than a few years at best.
One of the greatest parts about Wealthy Affiliate is the fact that they offer a free trial, that is actually free for once, without any commitment or money down or even credit card info.
Free trials can usually tell you 1 of 2 things, either it works and the person selling it is confident, or it’s brand new and they’re trying to boost the initial members… We’ve already gone over how long WA has been around for, so that leaves us with 1 option.
After activating your account and getting logged in for the first time, you will be really impressed with the layout of everything. It feels similar to most social networking platforms: A feed for the recent posts and stuff, private messages, live chat, etc.
I wasn’t initially there for another social network, I was there to see how they could make me money. And this was a bad decision in the long run because everything is much simpler with community help.
What is Wealthy Affiliate not about?
Upon joining WA, you’re going to notice a few things, right off the bat.
There are some things that just aren’t tolerated, and some things you should know:
- WA is not a get-rich-quick scheme – it takes time and effort
- Recruiting people isn’t required for success – they’re not an MLM
- You’re not building a “sales team”
- Spam is a big no-no and many people receive bans for spamming
- Promotions of any kind within WA are prohibited
- No black-hat methods are taught – You’re not going to get your site penalized by following their training
- WA is definitely NOT a scam or a place for scammers
That list should probably give you a good idea of the things Wealthy Affiliate isn’t, and the thing’s they don’t condone.
Now let’s take a look at one of the first questions anyone has by this point…
“Is It a Scam?”
In my opinion, Wealthy Affiliate is definitely not a scam.
That said, others might have different opinions based on how effectively they implement what is actually taught.
If you charge into WA without being methodical and actually taking the time to learn, you will fall short and it may feel like you’ve been ripped off.
After I was personally satisfied that Wealthy Affiliate wasn’t a pyramid scheme or some other blatant scam, I decided to give their first course a chance by completing it exactly the same way it’s instructed – including creating a brand new site on their hosting platform.
At first I was skeptical because I was pretty sure I knew what they were going to tell me to do, and I had always been unimpressed to say the least.
It’s safe to say that I was initially wrong about what they teach, as many people have been.
Don’t just take my word for it, though, see what other people have been saying over the past few of days, and remember, this is just a fraction of everything.
Honestly, after working for so many horrible bosses, I couldn’t be happier to finally not have to rely on one for a stable income anymore.
I can now say with confidence that Wealthy Affiliate significantly helped me create a full-time income from home. Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam.
Don’t get me wrong, working 9-5 to make someone else rich just so they can deny your request for vacation time is great and all, but personally, I prefer to take the lion’s share.
Your First Steps
The first thing you’re going to want to do, aside from creating your profile, is jump into the training.
It’s immediately clear where to find the training as there is a big green button shouting “Get Started Here” at you.
After clicking through a few of the training modules, I was instantly blown away by the level of information they provided.
Not only do they cater to the newbie marketer, but they also provide information relevant to a more advanced Internet Marketer.
During the first course you will learn:
- What Internet Marketing is, and how it will make you money
- Finding your niche market
- Setting up your own WordPress website
- How to perform proper keyword research
- How to brainstorm ideas for content
- What to put on your blog and how to structure it – knowing how to properly structure your content is important
- How to create high-quality content
That’s a lot of information all for free, nowhere else online will offer you all of that for free, that much I can guarantee.
There are 7 other primary courses filled with just as much, or more information than the first. Which is honestly a little overwhelming to think of all at once.
The alternative to finding basically the same information would be spending hours upon hours scouring miscellaneous forums and sifting through a lot of junk – it’s your choice.
Who is Wealthy Affiliate for?
Simply put, Wealthy Affiliate is for basically anyone who wants to learn the ropes of internet marketing, or expand their already prolific portfolio.
They cater to start-up entrepreneurs, people who are bored and looking for something new, stay-at-home parents, and long-time Marketers alike.
There are people from all reaches of life and every corner of the globe, from internet millionaires to internet startups, local business owners and people with big dreams.
Once you get into the members area you will almost instantly notice how diverse the community really is. I mean, it would be pretty hard to have a group of over 20,000 people without it being diverse.
THAT said…. There are some restrictions on certain countries due to some prevalent issues with scammers, etc..
These countries are:
- Plus a couple of others that I can’t remember off the top of my head..
If you’re from one of the listed countries, but you still really want to try WA, the support staff is always more than happy to help individual folks set up accounts.
This is what Wealthy Affiliate is all about, the training. The community to, but the training more-so.
I touched on the training a little earlier in the review, and now I’m finally coming back to it.
Wealthy Affiliate’s training materials are by far the best you are going to find online, it is comprehensive without being a bore or overwhelming, very well organized, and always up to date with the current standards.
Wealthy Affiliate’s training is available in numerous formats, so it’s hard to get bored while learning everything – which is great if you’re like me and get bored easy! Some of the formats are:
- Task Based Courses
- Video Training
- Weekly LIVE Webinars – These are always great, possibly the best part of Wealthy Affiliate’s whole program! They are also recorded so you can watch them at any time.
- Organized Classrooms
- Interactive Discussions 24/7
- Live Q&A Periods
That all might seem like a lot, and that’s because it is. There are over 1000 training modules found within Wealthy Affiliate, you would be hard pressed to not find what you’re looking for. Basically, each group of modules reveals another online business model that could be used to generate an income from home.
On top of all of the training that you can find at Wealthy Affiliate, you also get access to a plethora of tools. That’s right, a plethora.
You’re given basic every tool you could need, without having to search around the web for them.
Just to list a few things you get:

Grab your free starter account because you really have to see what I’m explaining to really understand what Wealthy Affiliate is about.
The support offered at WA is incredible, to be blunt.
You can often see the owners (Kyle & Carson) within the community answering questions and solving problems. Which is somewhat of a rarity with training programs like Wealthy Affiliate.
You’re also given access to both owners with ease, and they always reply to private messages.
Wealthy Affiliate also offers technical support for their website hosting, which is also alright. Sometimes their answers are sub-par, but they usually get the job done.
The community of over 20,000 active members is going to be your biggest support net because they’re all in it for the same thing that you are – to succeed.
Chances are you won’t need much support anyways as the training is so detailed and easy to follow that you probably won’t have many issues.
1. Starter: $0 and access to everything for 7 days – after 7 days some restrictions are applied
This account is the one everyone gets when they first sign up, it’s also referred to as a “trial” account, but there are very few “trial” features. For instance, after 7 days you lose your ability to comment, but you’re still able to read the training modules.
You’re given access to more than enough to fully test the waters and figure out if internet marketing is for you. If you do sign up to WA, I strongly suggest using the trial account to it’s fullest extent before making the decision to upgrade.
2. Premium: $359/year – or – $19 for your first month and $49/month after
Wealthy Affiliate Premium is another way to say “absolutely everything they have to offer”.
There are no “upgrade packs” beyond premium, and there are no hidden fee’s or blatantly forced promotions.
Upon upgrading to Premium you get unrestricted access to absolutely everything, including:
- a plethora of training materials
- analytic tools
- keyword tools
- 10 keyword lists with 100 profitable keywords in each
- weekly live webinars
- 24/7 technical support
- live chat
- and the list goes on…
You can even save 36% by opting for yearly billing instead of monthly!
Which are you?
Action-taker, or procrastinator?
One of the biggest inspirations in my life has been Michael Jordan, not only because he was a great basketball player, but because he was a great person off the court as well.
There are a ton of his quotes floating around online, but one that has always stood out to me was “some people want it, some people wish it would happen, some people make it happen.”
I’ll let you in on a little-known secret: No one ever succeeded by wishing or wanting.
You absolutely have to be an action-taker if you want to go anywhere.
You simply have to make it happen, whatever it may be to you. You will never achieve success if you’re not happy with what you’re doing, and let’s be honest, how many people are actually happy with their 9-5?
If you’re the kind of person who believes they can make it happen and you want to do so from the comfort of your own living room, I would strongly suggest creating your $0 starter account at Wealthy Affiliate. Who knows, there has been more than one overnight success story, and the most recent won’t be the last.
