With the economy in shambles and jobs becoming more scarce, more and more people are looking for new and easier ways to earn an income; what’s easier than sitting at home and poking around the web?
Well, if you think it’s going to be easy, you might be looking in the wrong place – making money online is the farthest thing from easy, in fact, it’s probably one of the most difficult ways to earn a living. It’s definitely going to take a lot more self control and dedication than your usual 9-5 would, if nothing else.
Inspiration is hard to gain and easy to lose.
We all know about the plethora of scams that plague the internet, and I’m sure we’ve all been caught in one at least once, especially if you’re the kind of person who is always looking for ways to earn extra money online.
Most of these scams are honestly presented in such a way that they will almost always seem “legit” on the surface. I’m talking about programs like “The Internet Lifestyle Network” and “The Empower Network” etc. These guy’s literally charge you thousands of dollars before you even have a chance to make a cent.
Doesn’t make sense, does it? I know it sure as hell wont make you cents.
Don’t let yourself be discouraged, there are definitely legitimate ways to earn extra money online, some are even free.
Lets go over 7 ways to earn extra money online, in 2015.
Build your own website with SiteRubix
Do you have a hobby? Is there something in life you’re passionate about doing and love to talk about? Creating your own website can be one of the most sustainable and profitable ways to make some extra money online.
2 billion people connect to the internet everyday, chances are a few of them are going to share your interest – why not capture this audience and give them your opinion? Whether that opinion is on what type of equipment they should buy, or how they should be doing something, there is a way to make money doing it.
I picked SiteRubix because not only do they give you the option to build free websites to test things out, but they also provide some pretty concise training on the best methods to drive the most traffic.
If you’re unsure of how to actually start your new site, sign up for Wealthy Affiliate’s starter account and go through the first course, that should be enough to get you going!
If you’re wondering what’s wealthy affiliate? Then you should check out my in-depth review of what Wealthy Affiliate is all about.
Youtube allows anyone to upload videos about basically anything they want, and then directly monetize those videos with ads from Google AdSense.
Advertisements aren’t the only way to use YouTube to earn extra money online though, you can also promote/review affiliate products from sites like Amazon, Apple, or wherever else you can find, and then provide links to the product via annotations or in the description.
Eventually if your viewership gets large enough, you might even get approached by certain companies to advertise their products, place them in your show, or just wear their logo. By then you should be making a good amount of money via other sources of monetization anyways.
UpWork (previously oDesk) is one of the many freelancing sites that have sprouted up around the internet over the past few years, but also one of the better ones to start out in.
Freelancing gives people in almost any profession or industry a way to use those skills online to earn extra money online, while building their portfolio and a client-base.
The types of job’s that are posted come from every major country in the world, and most payments are in USD.
Keep in mind that freelancing is an extremely competitive market and it may take dozens of proposals before you get your first contract, but from there things really pick up.
Fiverr is comparable to oDesk, but a fair bit cheaper. Honestly, a lot of people who do freelancing full-time use Fiverr to get smaller tasks done for super cheap compared to what they’re getting paid.
As the name implies, the base fee for basically every service offered by a freelancer on Fiverr starts at $5 – prices go up based on certain variables, but $5 is the starting point.
Do you have a plethora of knowledge on a topic that others would be interested in learning? Why not create your own online class about it and get paid for it?
At Skillshare this is exactly what they help you do.
Although it’s a two-part deal, the first being you have to create your video classes, the second being participation within the forums related to your classes. Popular topics include cooking, film, fashion and crafts, although there are many other topics which many people would be interested in learning about.
You don’t even need a teaching degree to get started, and it’s reported that on average people will make roughly $3500/year doing this.
Are you a photographer? Do you take a lot of pictures? Why not try selling some to be used as stock images around the web?
Websites like Shutterstock and Fotolia allow you to do just that.
It’s free to become a contributor on both of the listed sites, and they both pay based on commission.
If you’re the kind of person who is constantly taking pictures of everything you see – which let’s be honest, is a lot of us – this is a great way to put those pictures to work for you grinding out some dollars.make
Personally, I wouldn’t touch most survey sites with a 40′ pole and a mechanical arm to use it with.
I usually tell people to stay far away from them; but Swagbucks is one, if not the only exception.
If you think that participating in consumer surveys would be an interesting gig, this is the place to try it.
You’re able to take part in multiple surveys a day, which is nice. But what might be an inconvenience is the way you’re paid out at Swagbucks. You’re paid through gift cards to various online shopping centers like Amazon, iTunes and others.. So don’t expect any cash without doing some “asset reallocation”… buying and selling stuff…
There are a few other ways that you could pull in a few extra dollars a month, but these are, in my opinion, some of the best ways to do so.
The absolute best way is always going to be creating your own website, one way or another.
